Join Chester For Europe on an evening stroll around the Walls of Chester, to celebrate Europe Day. The forerunner of the EU (the European Coal and Steel Community) was created on 9 May 1950, and the day is celebrated througout the continent with a series of events and activities.
The Chester walls have stood since the last time Europe was unified under the Roman Empire. Our walk is symbolic of the need to maintain that unity.
With Brexit still looming, we want to present a positive image of our City to our visitors.
We will be meeting at the Storyhouse at 6.30, joining the Wall at Northgate Street and (if you are late) proceeding clockwise to complete the circuit.
We may then retire to a City Centre pub for further celebration of our continuing EU membership.
